Information for Parents

A session designed to increase understanding of Asthma and its treatments.

About the Event

The Parent/Guardian Asthma Education session is a group learning session designed to help parents/guardians and carers understand more about what asthma is; how it affects our children and how it is managed.  The session is open to any Parent/Guardian or Carer of a child who has been diagnosed with Asthma who belongs to a Hackney Marshes PCN surgery.

Aims of the session

We aim to provide education, guidance and improved confidence in managing Asthma at home. The session is delivered by a member of our Practice Nursing Team who has undertaken specialist Asthma training and the Paediatric Specialist Asthma Nurse from Homerton University Hospital.

We will not be able to review your child’s Asthma or discuss your child’s specific case as we will not have access to their records.  However, we will be giving information about the most common treatments for Asthma along with guidance on how to use the treatments safely.  At the end of the session you will have the chance to share your experiences and ask questions.

The session will last around 45 minutes.
