Flu

Influenza is a viral illness which can cause a severe illness.

Vulnerable patients  are at particular risk and getting the flu jab is recommended for all patients over the age of 65 and younger patients with the following diseases:

  • Diabetes
  • COPD
  • Ischaemic heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Kidney failure
  • Asthmatics requiring regular steroid inhalers
  • Reduced immunity eg HIV

The flu jab is given every year in the Autumn And it protects patients from catching the influenza virus.
